Entertaining Angels: The Story of Dorothy Day
Question #21
Dorothy's speech to her staff was very well said and very thoughtful. I agree with the statement that she spoke to Dan. I believe that God does not judge us on how successful we are but how faithful we are. It does not matter what you do in life if you do not have faith. In the end, you need God with you. He is the rock that keeps a person together. In this film, faith was the main theme found throughout the story. In the beginning, Dorothy did not believe in God at all. She then found God after her abortion and when she moved to the shore. It is also found when she did not know if she would have enough money to feed all the homeless and sick under her care. Again, God prevailed. Dorothy showed excessive love4 for everyone in her care, her staff and especially her daughter. She tried to help them in every way she could wether she gave them shelter or just listened to their stories.
I have great admiration and respect for Dorothy Day. She did not care what anyone had to say about what she was doing. In her heart and mind, she knew what she was doing was right. She had no second thoughts about her career path after she had people right by her side. This film helped me to see that most people just want love. That's it. If I can be able to love a person that most people find worthless, that will be the biggest way that I changed after this film.
